Bicomponent Applications

Ant-static and electrically conductive yarns

Thermal binder yarns with low melt point polymer on filament surface

Self-texturing filament yarns

Luminescent yarns

Combinations of polymers with different reactions to moisture to provide yarn that
crimps, de-crimps, shrinks, or elongates upon exposure to moisture

Combination of different colors in a side-by-side cross-section

Encapsulation of abrasive additives or pigments for improved yarn performance

Bicomponent Fibers

Production
Bicomponents and multi-component fibers are fibers which are generated during the spinning process from two or more polymers which have different chemical or physical characteristics. Two extruders are used for melting the chips in the simplest two-component-spinning process. The polymer melts are separately led to the spin packs or holes and thereafter spun to filaments.
